Post-Sprint Week Layout

After having a successful Design Sprint there is still a lot of work to accomplish. Here is a layout of how that next week looks like, as well as the specific tasks that the team needs to complete.

Getting Ready

You'll want to invite these people:
  • The Design Sprint Designer
  • The Design Sprint Facilitator
  • Other participants of the Sprint from our team (if any)
  • A designated Developer from our team (for the Technical reviews)
You'll need the following materials:
  • All your notes from the Design Sprint
  • Your laptop or computer
  • Access to relevant Tools for completing specific tasks (listed below)

Monday: download everything while it is still fresh!

 

Facilitator

  • Send an email to the client with the week layout (a summary of this guide!)
  • Help the Designer to put together all relevant notes and takeaways from the Design Sprint week
  • Book time from a Developer to run a Technical Review on Thursday
  • IF¬†there are business rules still pending to define ‚Ästbook time with the client to meet and define all pending business rules

 

Designer

  • Gather relevant notes and review them with the facilitator
  • Complete the¬†Design Sprint Insight Keynote
  • Start filling the¬†Post-Print Design Adjustments Template
  • Start filling the¬†User Stories Template
  • Book time from another Designer to run a Design review on Thursday

 

Tuesday: Prepare for the Reviews

 

Facilitator

  • Check in with the Designer to see if she needs any information
  • IF¬†there are business rules still pending to define ‚Ästfacilitate a meeting with the client and define all pending business rules

 

Designer

  • Complete the¬†Post-Print Design Adjustments Template
  • Complete the¬†User Stories Template¬†in preparation to the Tech Review (these User Stories should be very simple, remember that you'll write detailed User Stories DURING the tech Review)

 

Wednesday: Technical Review

 

Facilitator

  • Schedule a closure meeting with the client for Friday, to review all Sprint deliverables
  • Participate in the Tech Review with the Sprint Designer and the designated Developer

 

Designer

  • Participate in the Tech Review with the Facilitator and the designated Developer

 

Thursday: Design Review

 

Facilitator

  • Make sure that we have everything ready for final delivery (Prototype,¬†Design Sprint Insight Keynote, User Stories)

 

Designer

  • Run a Design Review with another Designer from the team
  • Capture all relevant feedback from the Design Review in the¬†Post-Print Design Adjustments Template

 

Friday

 

Facilitator

  • Facilitate a closure meeting with the client and provide a walk through all the deliverables

 

Designer

  • Participate in the closure meeting with the client and the Facilitator
  • Capture all relevant feedback from the closure meeting in the¬†Post-Print Design Adjustments Template
Keep in mind at all times

Not all Design Sprints are exactly the same. Sometimes you'll need to negotiate more or less with the clients before agreeing on a final scope for the MVP. In any case, focus on delivering the Sprint materials, so that the 'Design Sprint Chapter' can be closed, and the Tech Leads are able to continue the sales conversation.
